Business Excellence Consulting (BEC) is a top provider of regulatory (FDA) training and education, as well as provider of top-notch professional resources for regulatory consulting, internal and supplier auditing , validations development and execution,  CAPA system support, and general remediation activities within the FDA-regulated industry.  BEC is well known for the knowledge and capabilities of our resources, our devotion to customers, and our signature trademark, a PASSION FOR QUALITY.

BEC started operations in Puerto Rico in May 2005 focusing on the island extensive pharmaceutical and medical devices manufacturing market. Due to our growth, in 2014 two subsidiaries were incorporated covering the European market (based in Spain) and the US international markets (based in Florida).

The company is headed by its founder and president, Pepe Rodriguez-Perez, a PhD in biological sciences with post-graduate studies in medical sciences. He spent over 15 years working in the FDA-regulated manufacturing business and was a professor in the graduated program of the Industrial Engineering department of the Puerto Rico Polytechnic University. He was a Science Advisor for the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) from 2009 to 2012. He is the author of three best-seller books covering FDA topics, all of them published by the American Society for Quality: CAPA FOR THE FDA-REGULATED INDUSTRY (2010), QUALITY RISK MANAGEMENT IN THE FDA-REGULATED INDUSTRY (2012) and THE FDA & WORLDWIDE CURRENT GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICES AND QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS GUIDEBOOK FOR FINISHED PHARMACEUTICALS (2014).

Ever since the company’s founding in May 2005, the company grew to provide a wide array of regulatory remediation and support services, including the on-site placement of highly qualified professionals at customer’s sites. Our staff is composed of almost one hundred highly skilled and very experienced professionals.

Pepe Rodríguez-Pérez, PhD

President and Founder of BEC

Dr. Pepe Rodriguez-Perez is the president of Business Excellence Consulting, a consultant and training firm in the areas of regulatory compliance, continuous improvement, and operational excellence both in the manufacturing sector as well as for service providers.

He is a biologist and earned his doctoral degree in Immunology from the University of Granada (Spain). He has over 25 years of experience divided amongst the academia and the FDA regulated industry.  He served as Professor and Director of the Department of Microbiology at the School of Medicine San Juan Bautista, Caguas.  He also served as Technical Services manager at Abbott Laboratories, Diagnostics Division in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico.

From 2003 to 2012, he was professor for graduate studies of the Polytechnic University offering program courses on “Measuring Customer Satisfaction and Loyalty“, “Quality Foundations” and “Assessment Tools to Improve Business Performance“.
